On last November 11, 2015 took place at the Embassy of Brazil in Portugal, the award ceremony of the Navy Friends Association organized by the Society of Navy Friends (SOAMAR) and in which the Honorary Consul of Namibia in Porto, Mr. Hortêsio Simaria da Silva, was one of the awarded.

The Rear Admiral of the Navy of Brazil, Mr. Flávio Rocha, the President of SOAMAR-Brazil, Mr. Leonel Porto, and the President of SOAMAR-Portugal, Mr. Artur Victoria, among others, attended the ceremony.

Following this occasion, the Namibian Honorary Consul in Oporto had the opportunity to be involved in the opening ceremony of SOAMAR-Portugal, first delegation of SOAMAR outside Brazil, on last November 13, 2015 in Vila Nova de Gaia, as well as at the lecture on "Strategic Challenges for the Navy of Brazil" promoted by the Rear Admiral of the Navy of Brazil, Mr. Flávio Rocha, within the premises of the Insitute of National Defense of Oporto.
